Actinic Keratoses / Solar Keratoses (Sun Spots)

Actinic Keratoses, also known as Solar Keratoses or Sun Spots, are precancerous lesions caused by years of ultraviolet (UV) exposure. These patches develop when repeated sun damage triggers abnormal changes in the skin’s surface cells. While not all Sun Spots progress to cancer, a portion can evolve into Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC), making early identification and treatment essential. They most often appear on areas with the highest lifetime sun exposure, such as the face, scalp, ears, neck, forearms and hands.
